 Product Description:

Vaginal Dryness in Menopause

Vaginal dryness is common in women, especially during hormonal changes such as menopause. A recent study of 1,017 women in the US between the ages of 55 and 75 indicates that approximately 85% of postmenopausal women report vaginal itching or dryness. About 40% of sexually active women reported painful intercourse (Huang et al, Menopause, Jan 2010).
Vaginal dryness occurs due to thinning of the vaginal walls as estrogen decreases. Vaginal odour occurs due to an increase in pH leading to growth of bacterial flora that are normally suppressed by an acidic environment.

Background on Ingredients -

Damiva has a patent pending on the formulation for Mae. Mae is 100% vegan, and has never been tested on animals.
Cocoa Butter – Used traditionally for anal suppositories, cocoa butter melts instantly upon contact with the mucous membrane and has an immediate soothing effect. Polyphenols such as undecan-2-ol in cocoa butter have anti-microbial properties.
Kokum Butter – An astringent and soothing emollient butter made from the mangosteen fruit, the hydroxycitric acid in kokum butter helps to maintain a naturally acidic environment. Kokum butter also contains garcinol, an effective anti-microbial agent.
Sea Buckthorn Extract – The lignans in sea buckthorn are phytoestrogens, mimicking the effect of estrogen. Sea buckthorn also is rich in vitamins (A, B, C and E), carotenoids, amino acids and dietary minerals.
Hyaluronic Acid – Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide that retains moisture within the epidermal cell. Clinical trials have demonstrated that hyaluronic acid applied vaginally significantly decreases the symptoms of vaginal dryness, likely through the mechanism of retaining moisture within the vaginal mucosa (2).

Customer's Share -

Vaginally, I was feeling really dry, and nothing else worked—not oral hormones or a multitude of lubricants. I was happy to discover Mae by Damiva because it doesn’t have any nasty ingredients; no petroleum by-products, no preservatives. It’s non-toxic, long-lasting and it works for me. It has definitely changed my sex life so it makes me happier—and my husband’s happier.

About 5 years after menopause, I started experiencing vaginal dryness that was extremely uncomfortable. My doctor prescribed a pill that caused itching, burning, and a lot of discomfort. Safety is a concern for me; it’s my body that is affected, and if I put something in my body that causes problems, I won’t be a happy camper. So when I saw Ms. Sun’s Mae by Damiva pitch on Dragons’ Den and googled it to find out where I could get her product, I tried it. It is all-natural, easy to insert, dissolves in your body and has no side effects. It really works! That’s why I use Mae.

Supplement Facts:

10 ovules in a box, 1.6 g each, 16 g total. Each ovule has only 6 ingredients: kokum butter, cocoa butter, sucrose, sea buckthorn extract, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E.  Mae does not contain any parabens, phthalates, alcohols/glycols, glycerin, waxes or other chemicals.

Suggested Dose And Usage:

Use one ovule vaginally as needed or every 2 to 3 days, up to a maximum of 1 ovule daily.

Remove the plastic wrapper from the ovule.  Discard the plastic wrap, it is NOT an applicator and is used only for sealing the paste and preventing degradation of the natural ingredients.

The ovule is essentially a butter paste that melts upon contact with the vaginal membrane.  Using fingers, insert ovule as far as comfortable.  The paste will melt with body heat and provide genital lubrication.

Warnings And Contraindications:

Mae is not compatible with latex condoms as the oils can degrade the latex.  Do not use Mae if you have any symptoms of vaginal infection, gynecological problems or sexually transmitted disease.  Keep out of reach of children.

Healthy Tidbits

In this century, the world will have more people living into their 80s and 90s than ever before, with the number of people 80+ set to quadruple between 2000 and 2050.

Increased life expectancy is largely due to improvements in public health, and healthy ageing is linked directly to health in earlier stages of life.

Although it is natural for biological processes to decline with age, the rate at which our body’s decline is impacted by many controllable lifestyle factors such as how we eat, how we move, and how many toxic substances we are exposed to.
